The Co. Armagh Milk Cup Association was founded in 1991 with the aim of developing and nuturing underage football talent within the Armagh catchment area. Since it's inception the Association has been preparing and sending both under 14 and under 16 teams to the N.Ireland Milk Cup tournament held annually in the Northwest of the Province.
The Milk Cup has developed to become arguably the most prestigous underage tournament within both Great Britain and Ireland ,attracting Youth teams from some of the major footballing traditions from across the world such as Manchester United, Newcastle, Everton, Ajax, Grasshopper Zurich, Brondby and national teams such as Brazil, Chile, Uraguay and Japan. The present Co.Armagh Milk Cup Committee was formed in 1991 when a number of people involved in schoolboy and youth soccer in the County were approached and asked to select a squad of under 16 players to compete in the 1992 Milk Cup competition. This was an idea introduced by the Milk Cup Organizing Committee as they aimed to improve professionalism amongst the teams competing from the host Country.
The late Dick Craig, a stalwart in his commitment to youth soccer in his native Lurgan and indeed the county made him an automatic choice as the initial choice for Chairman.
The current Chairman is Alan Emerson M.D of Norman Emerson and Sons Ltd.
The Committee's primary objective was to give as many young footballers in the county the opportunity to demonstrate their skills against top quality opposition and to do so in a professional environment.
